Scholarship Information

Amount of Scholarship(s)
Type 1 Scholarship is set at $1,000.00 per year, but may be changed by the Board of Directors.

Eligibility Criteria for Type 1 Scholarship

  • U.S. citizen
  • Must be a graduating high school senior
  • Accepted for the Fall semester at Alabama A&M University
  • Maintained an approximate 3.00 GPA in high school
  • Attained a score in the 50 percentile on a college entrance examination (the ACT or SAT)
  • Consideration will be given to leadership qualities and school or church involvement.

All recipients must be in good standing with his or her high school and be recommended by their high school principal/counselor and at least one community leader.

All scholarships are renewable providing that the recipients maintains an overall 3.0 GPA. Scholarships will be withdrawn if the recipient leaves school for any reason other than illness or fails to maintain the required GPA for two successive semesters. Scholarships cannot be used in the summer school unless the recipient will complete degree requirements in the summer session. Awards may cover tuition, fees, room and board expenses, but cannot be used off campus.

Scholarship Administration
The Foundation Selection Committee will screen applicants and select the recipients.

Completed applications must be sent to the John Stallworth Scholarship Foundation by March 30th each year. Publicity will be given the scholarship through the news media, civic, school, and church groups. The scholarship will be awarded at the annual University Honors and Awards Day program or at the recipient's high school Awards Day program, if applicable.
