Chairman
- John Stallworth
Mr.
Stallworth is currently a partner at Genesis II, a family business created with two partners in 2006 to enhance the partner's philanthropic
support efforts, investments and related business interests.
Additionally, Stallworth
currently serves as Chairman, Board of Directors for the John Stallworth
Foundation, a non-profit organization he founded in 1980 to provide
college scholarships to students attending his alma mater, Alabama A&M
University. The Foundation hosts an annual golf tournament to raise
money for scholarships.
Stallworth previously
served as President and CEO of Madison Research Corporation, which he
formed in 1986, prior to his retirement from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Stallworth sold MRC and retired in 2006. In 2006, MRC, a technology
and government contracting corporation, was headquartered in Huntsville,
Alabama, with operations in Aiken, South Carolina; Augusta, Georgia;
El Paso, Texas; Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Warner
Robbins, Georgia; and Washington, DC.
Under Stallworth's
leadership, MRC provided services in five primary business areas: (1)
Software Engineering; (2) Information Systems Technology; (3) Systems
Acquisition; (4) Systems Sustainment; and (5) Administrative Support
Services.
As a result of his leadership, Washington Technology Magazine ranked
MRC #11 of the nation's top 25 small, minority-owned information technology
companies. The company received the 1998 Better Business Bureau of North
Alabama, Inc.'s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. This award was presented
in recognition of Madison Research's commitment to ethics in business.
In addition, MRC also received the 1997 Small Business of the Year award
in the Technology Services category. This honor was bestowed at the
1997 Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce's Small Business
Awards Celebration. In 1997, MRC was named to the prestigious Inc. Magazine's
list of 500 fastest-growing small businesses. Mr. Stallworth received
the 1997 Region IV Minority Small Business Person of the Year award,
presented by the Small Business Administration. He was also featured
on Black Entertainment Television's (BET) Real Business segment which
highlights successful small business enterprises.
Born in Tuscaloosa,
Ala; Stallworth attended Alabama A&M University 1970-1974, where
he became the Bulldog's all-time leading receiver, and a two-time All-Southern
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (1972 and 1973), played in the 1974
Senior Bowl. Alabama A&M retired his jersey when he graduated in
1974.
Stallworth was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round
of the 1974 NFL draft. In his 14 seasons with the team, he caught 537
passes for 8,723 yards and 63 touchdowns - all Steelers team records
at the time.
Stallworth played
in six AFC championships, and went on to four Super Bowls (IX, X, XIII
and XIV), scoring the winning touchdown on a 73-yard reception against
the Los Angeles Rams during Super Bowl XIV. He was named all-pro in
1979 and all-AFC in 1979 and 1984, the same two years he was voted Most
Valuable Player by his teammates. He also played in four Pro Bowl games
following the 1979, 1982, 1983 and 1984 seasons, and in 1984 was named
NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Stallworth retired from professional
football in 1988. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
His academic background
consists of a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in
Management, and an MBA with a concentration in Finance, both earned
at Alabama A&M University, in Normal, Alabama.
